littleMORE was born out of a personal experience of cancer. In April 2009, our core founder, late Mrs. Leena Pawar was diagnosed with "Acute Myeloid Leukemia" and so started her visits to the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai, India. Her sensitive mind was quick to capture the hardships faced by patients from less privileged background, as their families struggled to meet basic daily expenses over and above the medical and logistical outgoings. During her stay at TMH, her keen eye noticed loss of learning faced by young patients of the Paediatric Oncology during hospital stay.
Even as she suffered cancer and the harsh consequences of its treatment, Mrs. Pawar felt compelled to go beyond her personal experience of the deadly disease, and reach out to those around her. With her experience of spearheading many civil campaigns, always emphasizing more on performing than preaching, and the strong compassion she felt for those around her; she founded littleMORE to reach out to needy patients and their families, even as she bravely battled cancer, herself.
Despite a strong willed fight, she lost her battle to cancer in January 2010 and is gravely missed by all the souls she touched with her kindness and compassion. She has transcended from the physical world, but her spirit lives on and guides the determined group at littleMORE to follow her vision.
To support patients from underprivileged background in treatment and recovery with nutrition, and sanitation.
To facilitate prevention and early detection of diseases; and reduce stigma and misconceptions related to diseases.
To provide education and vocational training opportunities to patients and families.
To nurture budding artists and encourage social healing through art.
To foster research in field of art and creativity
littleMORE envisions a society where preventive and supportive health care is accessible and available to all; where poverty or disease does not affect educational or employment opportunities; and art and research promote social mobility.
