The Story Behind littleMORE

The story of littleMORE was born from a deeply personal journey, one that transformed adversity into compassion, and suffering into a lifelong commitment to serve others.

In April 2009, our core founder, Mrs. Leena Pawar, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a severe and life-threatening form of blood cancer. During her treatment and frequent visits to Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, she witnessed something that touched her heart profoundly—the immense struggles faced by patients and their families, many of whom came from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

For these families, the battle against cancer extended far beyond medical treatment. They struggled to afford essential medicines, accommodation, food, transportation, and other everyday necessities while trying to remain strong for their loved ones. The emotional and financial burden was often overwhelming.

Amidst her own battle with cancer, Mrs. Pawar also noticed young children undergoing treatment in the paediatric oncology ward who were missing valuable days of school and falling behind in their education. Their innocence, resilience, and interrupted childhood left an indelible impression on her.

Yet, despite facing her own pain and uncertainty, Mrs. Pawar chose not to surrender to self-pity. Instead, her personal struggle opened her heart to the suffering of others. She firmly believed that even the smallest act of kindness can bring hope to someone facing their darkest hour.

Driven by this profound sense of empathy and purpose, she resolved to extend a helping hand to patients and families in need. What began as a personal response to the suffering she witnessed gradually evolved into a larger vision of compassion, dignity, and hope.

Thus, littleMORE was conceived—with a simple but powerful belief: to do a little more for those who need a little more support, care, and hope.

From one woman's journey through illness emerged a mission to touch countless lives. Today, the spirit behind littleMORE continues to be rooted in the same conviction that inspired its beginning: that no person should have to face a difficult journey alone.
